But let’s back it up... what is boudoir? The term “boudoir” is French and originally referred to a woman’s bedroom or private room. Today, it’s an entire genre of photography illuminating feminine beauty. From sultry and sexy to fun and flirty, boudoir is a time for you to feel empowered and entirely yourself!
I realized that I wanted to become a boudoir photographer after an artistic, boudoir-ish experience with a friend photographer. When I saw the photo, all I could think was, “that’s me?”. It was beautiful. Working through depression at the time, I hadn’t looked at myself in a mirror for months. I’d forgotten that my body is beautiful simply because it exists and is here giving me life.
The self-confidence and empowerment this photo gave me for days afterward made me decide that I wanted to provide this same experience for other women. You are beautiful exactly as you are. While others call boudoir a “transformation”, I’d rather label it an emphasis of your beauty. I’m not transforming you and you don’t need transformation to be beautiful. You already are and it’s my job to highlight that.
